Thinking beyond the box begins with questioning all the things you think you know.  By that, I mean questioning our cultural assumptions.
Our assumptions are the things we know about ourselves, our lives, other people, the earth, the galaxy, and universe.  This may sound like "beliefs" or belief systems.  I dislike the word "belief" because it is loaded with individual and cultural baggage about "the truth".   I prefer the word "assumption" because it allows for the possibility of transformation.

Modern physics allows me to safely assume that I am "quantumly entangled" with other humans.  I think Jung called this "the Collective". So assuming all human consciousness is connected, a shift in one will have a ripple effect on the whole, much like a rock dropping into a pond. This human consciousness to which we are all connected is the basis of the archetypal energies that appear in the Tarot.  Our myths, past and present, represent the world view of "the Collective", a world view that impacts each of us as we are a part of connectedness of all human consciousness.

It seems humanity has reached a critical point where we will either evolve and learn to live together in harmony with each other and nature or we will destroy ourselves and our planet.

There is evidence in the landscape that this may not be the first time we have encountered such a pivotal point in our evolution.  There are many ancient megalithic structures around the world that cannot be explained unless you are a fan of the ancient alien theorists.  Our most ancient writings are 10,000 years old at best and there is evidence that humans have been on this planet for hundreds of thousands of years.  Have we come to this brink and failed in the past?

I have faith that we can create a new consciousness of harmony but I think it begins with questioning key cultural assumptions.  So how do you even recognize a cultural assumption in order to question it?  Well, for me I look at the world as if I were an alien from another planet who knows nothing about humans.  Some of the most fundamental and persistent assumptions have come into question.

I will elaborate on some of these assumptions, but in the meantime, think of some cultural assumptions yourself and begin the questioning process.  And see if you notice a shift in your consciousness.
